The films starts with black-and-white footage of the recording studio. He then brings the action forward on the sets, but makes frequent cuts to the studio. This avoids the sense of having filmed a staged production, and establishes an air of non-reality. Jacquot then adds a further visual dimension to the film by filming dazzling sequences of gardens and the night sky in Italy using a video camera.
